Sex Education

Due to the frightening potential for our teenagers to become infected with sexually transmitted diseases, the Shalampax school board has decided to include a sex education course in it’s curriculum. Despite this being a touchy issue (please curb your inclination to insert a cheap, juvenile pun here), our educators felt that this was the right decision to make.

No matter how much we may or may not wish it to be otherwise, some teenagers will experiment with sex. It is, therefore, important that they be made aware of the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases, not to mention pregnancy.

If our teenagers are not cognizant of these issues and they choose to become sexually active without taking proper precautions, the consequences could be unthinkable. We all remember what happened the last time the Shalampaxian population accidentally exceeded our 4,242-person limit. The people forced to share a room against their wills did not get along. It was not pretty, to say the least. Sex education is, therefore, something that we can not continue to ignore.

The school board members feared that, considering the sensitive nature of the subject, it might be difficult to find people willing to teach the sex education course. Their fears were initially alleviated when, much to their surprise, dozens of people volunteered for the role. Unfortunately, all of them withdrew their names from contention when they learned that there wouldn’t be any actual sex involved.

The search continues.
