Prime Minister Approval Rating
Always vitally interested in giving the appearance of serving the people, the Government of Shalampax recently commissioned a survey to gauge the approval rating of Manexposinghimself, prime minister of Shalampax. The results were released this morning.
When asked, “Do you approve of the way Manexposinghimself is governing Shalampax?” 100 percent of the respondents answered, “I neither know nor care.” All of the survey respondents were uninterested and unwilling to answer any further questions.
The survey was based on the response of 42 randomly selected Shalampaxians. Taking into account the natural apathy of Shalampaxians, a survey of this size that provides the results that it did is considered to be accurate within plus or minus 0.01 percent, 99 times out of 100.

Shalampaxians seem to be particularly inclined to commission surveys and studies on a variety of probing issues. I suspect, nay I’m certain, this is merely a way of claiming to be doing something while foisting it off on others until the results arrive…which are then proprerly ignored.
If the circumstances of my birth had make me a Shalampaxian, I can say with utmost confidence that I would have made an excellent citizen of your island. I am unusually proficient at foisting-off and ignoring any proposed activities.
In fact, I pretty darned sure that I was scheduled for a Shalampax birth but that damned 4242 population limit forced me to be delivered elsewhere to other parents.
I would say I’m disappointed but I really don’t care.
@David: Yes, Shalampaxians are great lovers of giving the appearance of activity while foisting it off on others.
Our attempt to strictly adhere to the 4242 quota can be an annoyance. We are dedicated to it because, as was revealed to humanity by the late, great Douglas Adams, the answer to the ultimate question of the universe is 42. We therefore believe that maintaining a population count of two 42s will bring us good fortune.
6 times my favorite number 7 = 42 so I am fully on board with the philosophical beliefs of Mr. Adams.
If you find that of questionable logic, just try 7 X 7 = 49 and see where that gets you in the good fortune section of the space-time continuum.
@David: I’m glad to see that you are enlightened about Life, the Universe and Everything.
