142

U.S.A. Canada

According to our blog statistics, this is post number 142 here at Shalampax Speaks. Obviously, 142 is immensely momentous.

The number “1”, the leading digit in 142, represents unity. It metaphorically represents the oneness of life, the oneness of the universe, and the oneness of everything. What’s more, one stands at the head of everything except nothingness—zero. And nothingness can be ignored because it is, well, nothing.

As if the leading digit weren’t significant enough, 42 is, as everyone knows, the answer to the ultimate riddle of the universe. If you don’t know that (or if you didn’t notice the reference to “Life, the Universe and Everything” above), then you definitely need to read the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series by the late Douglas Adams. (I mean “late” as in “deceased” not late as in “when most Shalampaxians show up for meetings”.)

Put the “1” and “42” together and blog post number 142 becomes highly significant. Clearly, it is well worth celebrating. Besides, by noting it here I don’t have to waste my time writing some other useless crap to fill today’s slot in this waste of electrons we call Shalampax Speaks.

This reminds me – I recently purchased a fleet of slightly used school buses from a bankrupt school district. There is one very “short” bus that I really don’t need. I was wondering if I could donate it to the Shalampax School District. I could have it delivered by helicopter to the roof of Shalampax Central on a calm day – with proper permits from the Shalampax President. Being on the roof with complete exposure to the elements, perhaps it could be used for the Meteorological Studies Program, or other programs as needed, of course. I will even have the windows cleaned before delivery since they are covered with traces of dried saliva from students who seemed to find it enjoyable to lick the windows on the way to school.

@David: Thanks but, not to be rude, we don’t need no stinking short buses. Besides, nothing, not even something as big as a bus, let alone a short bus, would last more than a couple of days on our roof before it’s blown off by hurricane-force winds.

Sorry we can’t help you unload any of your busses. But cleaning the windows is a good idea anyway–the bus will show better.

Well, you can’t say I didn’t offer. And, unlike the Shalampax Flag Store, I wasn’t charging even one dollar of shipping and handling.

@DavidVery generous of you. But how do we know that you didn’t jack up the price to cover shipping and handling costs?

You caught me. I went from paying you to take the damn useless bus to just giving it to you.

@David: And you probably thought we were stupid. Ha!
