Saying Sort of Remembered

A while back, I said that we had an old saying—actually, I said adage, not saying, but let’s not be picky—here in Shalampax, but I couldn’t remember what it was. Well, I finally remembered. Our old saying goes something like this:

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, assuming, of course, that the others are consenting adults and that you take reasonable precautions against pregnancies and against the spreading of sexually transmitted diseases.”

No, wait. Now that I think about it, that wasn’t it at all. Not even close. But I’m sure it was something terribly politically correct like that.

Never mind. I’ll get back to you if I remember the adage.

Here at Casa Moiself, we (I) have a saying – “Everyone seems normal until you get to know them”. You have our (my) permission to use that until you remember your own adage….of course it may not apply in Shalampax since I’m not convinced that any Shalampaxian seems normal by any definition of the term.

@David: Thanks for your permission to use that. Of course, as always we will claim it as our own and refuse to pay any royalties.

As to your (now our) saying’s accuracy, it depends on your frame reference for normality. We prefer to use the behavior of chronic patients at mental institutions as our frame of reference. By that standard, we appear only very weird as opposed to really, truly, extraordinarily weird.
