Active Listening

Last night, Emptybucket gave yet another excruciating (or is that exhilarating; I always get those two words mixed up; no, excruciating is right) lecture in his sporadic series of talks.

Yesterday’s topic was, “Active Listening Skills: Paying Close Attention.”

Fulfilling my role as events reporter here at Shalampax Speaks, I attended the full one-hour seminar. I would like to use today’s post to provide a detailed revue of his session because active listening skills are, clearly, skills that would benefit everyone and help to make the world a better place. I would like to do that, but the truth is, my mind wandered and I didn’t hear a word he said.

After the lecture, I asked some of the other people in the audience if they could give me a brief summation of what Emptybucket said so I could report it here. Unfortunately, the only response I got was, “What? Who? Can you believe this weather we’re having?” It seems they came only for the free cookies.

Sorry about that.

People actually stayed for an hour lecture. Emptybucket is obviously doing something right.

Cookies? Did you say free cookies? Damn, I shouldn’t have stayed home to watch “Survivor”.

This is my first time on your site. I am impressed with the content and how well written the posts are. Great job!

I love the fact that nobody was listening to the lecture on “Active Listening”. I think it might be time to find another presenter for that lesson!

    Great Post!

Oh Nathan, you have so much to learn about Shalampax. Regardless of whom is speaking….well, you will find out eventually that no Shalampaxian gives a damn about much beyond having adequate alcohol and porn and being left the hell alone.

@Patricia: I think the only reason people stayed is Emptybucket didn’t serve the cookies until the end of the lecture. He got that part right (at least from his perspective).

@MadMadMargo: If you stay in and watch television you’re going to miss a few things. On the bright side, you didn’t have to listen to Emptybucket.

@Nathan If you explore some more of the information on Shalampax and Shalampaxians that you’ll find on this site, you’ll probably come to realize that Emptybucket is one of the best presenters we have.

@David: You know us too well.
