Nothing to See Here … Move Along

Some of the other folks at Shalampax Speaks are saying that I’ve become obsessed with this Internet thingy. They say that my plan to dominate Twitter was the ultimate proof, but they also complain that there is no reason why we have to put out a post on Shalampax Speaks every day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, 10 years a decade, 10 decades a century, 10 centuries a … Well, you get the picture.

The other authors want to cut back on their writing schedule. And they say that my insistence that at least one of us must post something here every day is absolute proof that I’m addicted to the Internet thingy.

What hooey!

If you’re addicted to something it means you are physically dependent on it and you can’t give it up. That’s not it. Not at all.

I don’t ask much of the other authors. In fact, if you look back, you’ll find that I’ve contributed more than my fair share of articles.

In addition to being one of the authors, I also have editorial duties. That means that I have to set our editorial and publishing policies. Well, I’ve done that. And I set the daily-posting rule for a very good reason: I firmly believe that consistency is important in publishing.

That’s all there is to it. It’s not an addiction. Not at all.

I could stop posting here any time I want. No problem. It’s a choice, not a need. In fact, to prove it, there’ll be no post in Shalampax Speaks today.

There. See? What more proof do you need that I can stop whenever I want and I’m definitely not addicted to the Internet thingy. So let’s hear no more about that.

Oh, wait. What’s that up there? Those words. How did they get there? Damn! Maybe they’re right.

When there’s nothing else to do an article a day isn’t hard, but during midterms it becomes a little too hectic. I agree with you though. If someone wants to visit your site every day they should get something for it. Here, we all get to learn about something new in Shalampax. Despite its reputation for laziness, more stuff happens there than in most countries of similar size.

Hooey, it’s not physical addiction, it’s mental.

@Steve: So what you’re saying is that posting here is threatening our title of “most lazy people in the world.” Wow. Now I really do have to rethink my daily-posting policy.

@MadMadMargo: Who are you calling mental?!
