Professional Development Day
This notice is intended for parents of students in the Shalampax school. The school will be closed this Friday for a professional development day.
The school board decided that a professional development day was warranted when it recently learned that more than 50 percent of the teachers at the school are functionally illiterate. This could go some way to explaining the low levels of academic achievement at the school.
The low level of literacy among teachers is attributed to the fact that all teachers are graduates of the Shalampax school.
The school board advises that parents should expect a higher frequency of professional development days in the future.

Literacy in education is highly over-rated. Most people are visual and learn from pictures. This development day stuff just sounds like one more excuse for the slackers to have the day off.
To me, the obvious question is, who will be teaching the teachers on Development Day?
@David: Yes, our teachers like to work with pictures. However many people object to showing those pictures to children.
Are you saying there’s something wrong with giving slackers the day off?
@Patricia: That’s why Paahlm gave us the Internet. It’s a font of reliable learning opportunities.
