Adult Diapers Restocked

I have some news that will make many Shalampaxians very happy. The Shalampax Miscellany Store has not had adult diapers in stock for almost a month and it’s the only store here that carries them. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that I’m happy to report that a supply ship was able to dock yesterday. It had an ample supply of adult diapers onboard and they are now in the Shalampax Miscellany Store.

We can all breath a deep sigh of relief because it will no longer be necessary to interrupt our television viewing a few times a day in order to go to the toilet.

It’s about time as far as I’m concerned. The door to my bathroom is a good 20 feet from my couch. The effort of walking all the way there was getting to be a real nuisance and, worst of all, I was missing some of my favorite commercials.

I’m sure most Shalampaxians will join me in giving thanks that this terrible inconvenience has finally ended.

I’m sure that is a great relief to everyone.

Although, out of curiosity, what constitutes an “ample supply”? Maybe half the population of Shalampax would be enjoying them; using two per day; That would be 4000 per day for all users and, given the large time gaps between ship arivals, a year’s supply would be 365 X 4000…??? That would be about 1.5 million diapers. Good thing that ship didn’t sink or the water of the ocean could be completely absorbed and the ship would never arrive.

So Birdinhand, what consitutes your computation of ample?

@David: We average one supply ship a month, not one a year. So the store needs only a 30-day supply. And two-a-day? What’s the point of that? You might as well just go to the washroom. Most of us put one on in the morning and throw it out at night and load them up in-between. We can usually make it through the night without one. So, the store needs to stock only about 2000 x 30 or 60,000 to cover the month’s requirement.

As you know, sometimes ships are late docking because of the weather. That’s why the store sometimes runs out, but because the ships come, but not necessarily dock, at regular intervals, that just means that the store is overstocked at other times.

I am surprised to learn that, despite the weather that would have kept Marie and MadMadMargo sitting on a ship for months on end awaiting a weather-clearing that would allow docking, Shalampax receives ships on a monthly basis. I’m also surprised that every ship delivers adult diapers. I have much to learn about Shalampax it seems.

@David: I said that we average a ship a month. Sometimes two or three bunch up waiting for the weather to clear enough for us to build our temporary dock. We might then unload all of the bunched up ships within a single month.

I also didn’t say that Marie and MadMadMargo would have to wait that long, only that they might. It all depends on the weather. And, by waiting on the nearest island with reasonably clement weather and then helicoptering to a docked ship when the weather clears here, they’ve solved the waiting problem.

Jude: Thanks. I’m glad you enjoy it. Please keep coming back and tell your friends. It gets lonely here in Shalampax.
