National Leave Your Kid at Home Day
Today is National Leave Your Kid at Home Day in Shalampax.
With school out, many parents have been bringing their kids to work, locking them in the supply closet, and then taking them home at night. Parents are doing this to save the cost of sending their kids to camp or hiring someone to police their kids during the day.
Shalampax childcare experts state that this is a very highly recommended parenting technique, but many employers say otherwise. It seems that, when they leave the supply closets, many kids are taking some of the office supplies with them. Actually, they’re stealing as much as they can carry. Some kids even bring wagons to cart their loot away.
Most employers are unhappy with this because they restrict office supply theft privileges to employees only, not their dependents. In response, the Employers’ Association convinced the government to declare this to be Leave Your Kid at Home Day. Consequently, all parents are required to leave their kids at home today.
If you have children, don’t despair. The same childcare experts assure me that the best thing for your children is to leave them at home, turn on the television, leave a few scraps of food on the floor, and then padlock the door from the outside when you leave.
Happy Leave Your Kid at Home Day! Unfortunately, with the weekend coming up, your kids will have to curtail their theft activities until Monday.

I don’t know about Shalampax but other countries have a thing called daycare provided in several ways: privately, by the state or by the employer. Employers may discover providing daycare is cheaper than the losses sustained on supplies. State-run day care would get the little munchkins out of the closet and off the streets. Individual Slampaxians stand to make a fortune looking after the children of working parents. The problem will be in finding individuals to tolerate those little rug rats and in providing enough supplies to keep them happy.
@nonamedufus: You hit upon a part of the problem. Shalampaxians hate children so much that the price that a Shalampaxian would charge to take care of someone else’s child is more than anyone could afford. (And Shalampaxians are so cheap that, even the richest among them, hate to pay anything to anyone to do anything.)
State daycare might work. They wouldn’t actually need workers. I understand there’s an unused closet with a lock on it in Parliament. They should be able to put the kids in there for the day and not worry about. I’ll suggest it to my Member of Parliament.
My daughter was at work with me until she started walking. Not in HOME either. At my WORK. i would lay a playmat down for her to roll around on. I got her a bit jeep as she got older to cruise around the office in. And also a jumperoo and swing. It figured out fine. I’d say if your at a desk… it would be NO problem having himthere with you. you can surprisingly do alot while feeding… on a computer. And then during naptimes… save your more challenging stuff for then.
It can compute. but as she started walking it was harder to monitor what all she was getting into… therefore, she now goes to daycare.
