Our island is small enough to walk across in under 15 minutes (see geography) and the acoustic qualities of our building are such that any conversation, in the quietest of voices, is heard by everyone (see architecture). Knowing these facts, you probably wouldn't guess in a million years the top two of the three areas of scientific research in Shalampax. That is, you wouldn't guess them unless you realized that it was a trick question or you cheated and looked at the links below. Yes, they are transportation and communications. The third area of scientific focus is more obviously practical: electricity generation.
